Overview:  Gold Leaf Tobacco Corporation (Pty) Ltd is an equal opportunity company which operates within the FMCG (Non-Foods) market primarily distributing value for money tobacco products to wholesalers and corporate retail stores.

 

The company currently has a vacancy for a suitably qualified Trade Marketing Agent (aka Merchandiser) aged between 25 and 45 years in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Region (preferably based in the Newcastle/Ladysmith area) to service our customers in the KZN Midlands and parts of the KZN North Coast, inter-alia, from Estcourt/ Bergville/ Ladysmith/ Newcastle to Volksrust; Nquthu up to Dundee/ Vryheid; Ulundi/ Melmoth/ Eshowe up to Gingundhlovu; Mthubathuba/ Hluhluwe /Jozini up to Pongola; Richards Bay and Empangeni.

 

Although preference will be given to Black males/females, White males/females and other suitably qualified candidates may also apply.

 

   

 

Focus: ·         The role includes the ongoing building and maintaining of good customer relationships.

·         Responsible for ensuring that sales targets are met.

·         Responsible for implementing relevant merchandising strategies and monitoring customer profiles and sales activity of the company’s products and how it caters to the needs of the respective area/s of operation.

·         Responsible for liaising with the relevant key stakeholders both at customer level as well as employer level.

 

   
Reporting Relationship: The Trade Marketing Agent will report to the National Sales Manager: Key Accounts based at the company’s Head Office in Linbro Park, Johannesburg.

 

   
Responsibilities:

 

The basic responsibilities will include, but not be limited to

 

 

  • Visiting stores on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring that daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly Call Route Lists are adhered to.
  • Ensuring effective merchandising of stock by

–       Maintenance of shelf space

–       Maintenance of stock on shelves

–       Keeping sufficient stock on shelves

–       Keeping stock neat and tidy on shelves

–       Checking correct pricing of stock

  • Ensuring sufficient stock is kept in all stores at all times.
  • Taking full stock count on every visit to stores.
  • Using Calling Cards to record stock takes.
  • Ensuring that Stores place orders regularly.
  • Ensuring that full details of all orders placed are communicated to head office effectively, efficiently and timeously.
  • Ensuring that no store runs out of stock

 

  • Ensuring that Daily and Weekly Reporting Templates are duly completed and submitted on time.
  • Ensuring the proper care and use of all tools of trade provided by the company.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with the rules, regulations and policies implemented by the company from time to time.
  • Performing such duties as determined by the line manager (or his designated representative), as the need arises and from time to time.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

 

  • Must be a South African Citizen.
  • Must be in possession of a valid unendorsed South African Driver’s Licence (preferably Code 08/EB) with several years driving experience.
  • Previous Sales/Merchandising experience preferred.
  • Good Inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Deadline and target driven.
  • High level of literacy.
  • Strong customer relationship management.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Friendly disposition.
  • Basic Computer literacy (Word, MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail).

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • Must have a South African Matric Certificate.
  • Post Matric Tertiary qualification in an appropriate field will be a distinct advantage.

 

 

 

Remuneration

Package

 

 

  • Market related performance based contract consisting of:

–       Salary of R8000 to R9000 per month, (negotiable) depending on qualifications and experience.

–       Use of Company Vehicle (strictly for business purposes only).

–       Use of Cellphone (strictly for business purposes only).

–       Use of Laptop (strictly for business purposes only).

–       15 working days leave per annum.

 

  • A probation period of 3 months is applicable.
  • After successful service during probation period:

–       Monthly Commission-based Bonus at the discretion of Management.

–       Company Contribution to Group Provident Fund.

–       Company Contribution to Medical Aid Scheme.

 

Other Requirements
  • Candidates must be willing to undergo Polygraph Testing and have to go through a driving skills test as well prior to appointment.

 

  • Candidates should preferably be ITC cleared.

 

  • NB. Candidates must be prepared to travel long distances and also be prepared to stay away from home on business on a regular basis.
